Castaic Lake, Lower Lagoon (Lot 6) 32132 Castaic Lake Drive, CA 91384 [map]
Long Course Tri
1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run
Olympic Distance Tri
1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10k run (1500 meters/24.8 miles/6.2 miles)
The Sport Chalet Renegade M3 Tri races are hard, some past participants might say too hard. The long course triathlon has a mass start swim, the bike ride travels over rough mountain roads that have epic climbs and the run is hot and dusty. These two triathlons are NO JOKE and IF YOU FINISH you’ll have a story that you can tell your grandchildren. No one has ever tattooed our race logo on their leg but that doesn’t make this race any less respectable. Come out and see if you are ready to Conquer the Mountain.
Both the half Ironman distance and the Olympic distance triathons will be treated to a beautiful calm swim in Castaic Lake. The Sport Chalet M3 Tri's have a “European Style” bike course with epic views of the local mountains. The bike course starts and finishes at Castaic Lake. The run will travel on paths and roads through the Castaic Lake Recreation Area and has awesome views of the lake.
Finishers will be part of a fabulous celebration that includes post event music and refreshments. All finishers will get a finishers medal and event technical T-Shirt. You don’t want to miss Los Angeles’ only long distance triathlon.
M3 BIKE COURSE PRE-RIDES
This is road triathlon but participants should have good bike handling skills for the long climbs and steep descents. We invite participants come out and pre-ride the bike course with us!
We have organized 3 pre-rides of the M3 Triathlon Bike Courses to give athletes a chance to check out or just practice the course. All levels are welcome and it is FREE, all we ask is that you RSVP so we know how many to expect. Meet at the Castaic Sports Complex, just down the road from Castaic Lake for free parking, and be ready to roll by 7:00am. RSVP to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Benefits Challenged Athletes Foundation
ABOUT CHALLENGED ATHLETES FOUNDATION® (CAF)
The Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) is a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. Since 1994, more than $36 million has been raised and more than 6,000 funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries have been satisfied. Additionally, CAF’s outreach efforts reach another 60,000 individuals each year. Whether it’s a $2,500 grant for a handcycle, helping underwrite a carbon fiber running foot not covered by insurance, or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar challenge, CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, athletic lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
